It is tough to say "no" to peer pressure, but we can do it. Paying attention to your own feelings and beliefs about what is right and wrong can help you know the right thing to do. Inner strength and self-confidence can help you stand firm, walk away, and resist doing something when you know better.

It can really help to have at least one other peer, or friend, who is willing to say "no," too. This takes a lot of the power out of peer pressure and makes it much easier to resist. It's great to have friends with values similar to yours who will back you up when you don't want to do something.

You've probably had a parent or teacher advice you to "choose your friends wisely." Peer pressure is a big reason why they said that. If you choose friends who do not use drugs, cut class, smoke cigarettes, or lie to their parents, then you probably won't do these things either, even if other kids do. Try to help a friend who's having trouble resisting peer pressure. It can be powerful for one kid to join another by simply saying, "I'm with you - let's go."

Even if you're faced with peer pressure while you're alone, there are still things you can do. You can simply stay away from peers who pressure you to do stuff you know is wrong. You can tell them "no" and walk away. Better yet, find other friends and classmates to pal around with.

If you continue to face peer pressure and you're finding it difficult to handle, talk to someone you trust. Don't feel guilty if you've made a mistake or two. Talking to a parent, teacher, or school counselor can help you feel much better and prepare you for the next time you face peer pressure.

Peer pressure is all around us. Having negative peer pressure is much more worst than anything. Lets take a look and see how nasty negative peer pressure can lead a wonderful and good-behaved person to be.

Jamie Ng was a very good pupil in school, having very good attendance, her results are always among the top three. She is always complimented and praised for being consistent and she is the best performer in class. But, things started to change when she was promoted to secondary three, she hanged out with this girl, Sarah. Sarah was one typical girl who can cope well with her work and yet hangs out with all those "beng" and "lian". Sadly, this does not apply to Jamie who cannot cope with her work and yet wants to hang out with all those wrong company of friends.

Everything starts to fall, her life is starting to have a big change. Her work, her results drops greatly, and she have started to escape from lessons and skip school. Gradually, not even her soul can be seen in school anymore. Her teachers are really disappointed in her, they tried their very best to help her, to change her, but nothing works.

She even started to take drugs and smoke because her friend does the same thing, thus by taking drugs and smoking, she is fit into the group of friends she hang out with. All this happen because of just two words, "peer pressure", and because of this two words, her life is ruined, and everything went haywire. Is very saddening to see such cases happen, but no matter how much we try to stop it, how much we try to prevent it, it will still happen, everywhere, anytime.

Teens just need to be accepted by the people around them, and the feeling of wanting to be accepted to extremely strong during the teen years. Their self identity have not been formed yet, is just starting to be discovered, that is why it can just simply lead to a steady state of uncertainly.

Peer pressure is the force that someone feels to behave or dress a certain way. A peer could be a friend, someone in the community, or even someone on TV. You may experience peer pressure as you live up to either the individual's or group's expectations or follow a particular fashion or trend.

Directly - We may experience peer pressure as someone telling us what we should be doing. It may be a good idea to talk to someone we trust if we feel threatened, are being hurt, or being pressured into something we do not want to do. This may be a family member, teacher, youth worker, or counselor.

Indirectly - Peer pressure may not always be obvious to us. It is not uncommon for a group of friends to have particular habits or activities that they do together. It may be that when you are with a different group of friends you are unlikely to do those things. For example, you may only smoke when you are with certain friends or you may be more likely to study when you are with other friends.

Individual - Sometimes the pressure comes from us ourselves. Feeling different from the group may be hard. To avoid this, sometimes we do things to make sure we feel like the rest of the group. Moving to a new area or starting high school may be scary. Often it means having to make new friends and fit into a new environment. When we are feeling unsure about ourselves we may be more likely to feel the affects of peer pressure.

Resolve it! By taking action to resolve it, one may feel less pressured. They can get help from people closer to them and are reliable like their parents and teachers, and maybe friends who are not causing them to feel pressured. The support from the people will help them deal with peer pressure in the right way.

The cause of peer pressure is that everyone wants to be liked by others and be popular among everybody. They will simply give in to peer pressure as they feel that they are the odd ones in the group of friends they hang out with. They rather be the one joking at others than be the one being laughed at, so they tend to follow the crowd blindly.

But not all peer pressure is bad! In fact, there are positive peer pressures. Positive peer pressure conforms to positive social expectations than it is a pressure to act out. For example; a group of boys sees some of their classmates smoking, one of them got pretty interested to try it out. A few agree but most of them think that it is foolish and stupid as smoking is just a pure waste of money and it harms their health. In the end, they decided not to try and do something for a meaningful purpose. In this simple example, it greatly shows us that even though they have to reject one of the member's requests, they know clearly in mind what is right and wrong. That positive peer pressure that is happening in the situation caused the others not to go ahead and try out smoking. This peer pressure exerted is definitely seen as positive as it stopped the whole group to do something that is wrong.

When there is positive peer pressure, teens will face pressure like respecting the property of others, not to drink, not to smoke, not take drugs, not to bully and not to fight. All these are good as they are helping and guiding one another to the correct path.

But, there are also teens that are guiding their friends to the wrong way. Negative peer pressure can even cost you your life! As they feel that they are too pressured by their friends to do things that is wrong and they do not want to be left out, so they join in the "fun" with them. To end the struggle, they chose to commit suicide. Negative peer pressure can cause real harm to you and others. For example, your groups of friends are all taking drugs and asked you to try. They say that if you don't try, you are a coward. As a result of these words, you tried it and got addicted. Consuming more than your body can take, your own health is being put in risk. In this example, we can see that because of words from your friend, you gave in and let peer pressure take over and win you over. The peer pressure that is happening here is certainly seen as negative as you get influenced to do the wrong things and you just don't have the courage to push it away even you know it will not do you any good at all.

Negative peer pressure can be really scary. It can be like taking drugs, smoking, underage sex, joining a gang and bullying others. Think again, put yourself into others shoes, what will happen to the one being bullied? What will happen if you were the one being bullied? It may cause a huge impact on their life and if they were beaten up, they may sustain permanent injuries. This will leave a scar in them, and it is a very selfish act. Negative peer pressure can turn you completely into a different person, and this is how horrible it can be!

Having peer pressure, determines how we present ourselves to others. Everyone experiences peer pressure. It’s just a matter of positive and negative. It can happen to teens and even adults, anywhere, especially with people around the same age as you. It takes a person with great character and self-confidence to work peer pressure the right way!

Peer pressure is something everyone has to deal with-even adults.Peer pressure is where a group of students try to influence you to do something bad.

Peer pressure is when someone in the class tries to teach you how to play cheat in exams, ask you to skipped classes if not they will not befriend you.If your friend approaches you and tell you that, obviously that is not your friend.Just follow your heart and have the willpower .Do the right things.

Many people do not have the self-confidence in them so when a group of bad friends approaches them and tell them to steal or smoke, thet will listen to them.we should not do that.

Peers influence each other in positive and negative ways even when you do not realise it.Parents and teachers always say ''choose your friends wisely''.You can find friends who are good or could resist temptations.

Sometimes, peer pressure can be used to pressure us into acting towards other kids.If kids who can resist it together, peers can pressure each other into doing what is right.

Teenagers nowadays feel that there is alot of peer pressure on them. People around us can lead us to peer pressure due to the surrounding that we are in. Lacking of friends may let teenagers feel that there are peer pressure. Friends that we hang around with can also give us peer pressure. They could pressure us to take up smoking, consume drugs or steal things. We find it hard to reject them as we are eager to keep our friends.

lack of encouragement from our friends and family members may lead us to peer pressure. Some of us might find it hard to make friends and need some encouragement from our family members. But we recieve no encouragement from them, we may feel that there are nobody caring for us. Due to lack of encouragement from friends and family members, we begin to feel the pressure in us.

When we feel that nobody is caring for us, we tend to socialize lesser with others. Due to lack of socializing, we might feel left out and more pressure is place on us. Thinking that nobody care about us, we tend to get along with the wrong groups of friends which leads us to take drugs or to do bad stuffs. Getting with wrong groups of friend, thinking that our "friends" care for us and carry on doing the wrong thing while thinking that it is right.

When we socialize lesser, we tend not to take in newer experiences, encouragement from people around us. We are afraid to stand out to say so because we are afraid that people will laugh at us and we may even get scolded by our family members.

As people grow older,we will face some challenges basically, peer pressure is something everyone has to deal with, even adults. Peer pressure is when a group of bad companions ask you to do something which you does not want to do. Peer pressure can be broken down into groups: the postitive and the negative.

The negative side of peer pressure is when a group of bad companions forced to do something that is bad. If you do not wish to something that is bad, just say NO. It takes a lot of courage to say it. For example, if someone asks you to steal, you know that it is bad, just voice out and say NO, i do not want to. It will be good when you have a friend who thinks the same way as you, as you will feel more confident and will do what is right.

Many people think that peer pressure is always a bad thing, but actually there is also a positive side to it. Positive peer pressure can help us in acting better towards others if children form a group and will only do what is right, then it will benefit everyone.

There fore, we must follow our mind and heart to do what is right. Our parents and teachers have always been telling us,to choose friends wisely. It's only our human nature to listen to and learn form other people in our age group. If you cannot overcome peer pressure, you can always find someone to talk to.
